Beverly welcomed and thanked everyone for coming. Interim officers, Marc Manly and Linda Minton could not attend due to business obligations.
The minutes from the May 16th meeting were posted on the website and distributed to the present members. No corrections were made. Motion to accept by Lisa and seconded by Jason. Minutes accepted.
Walt notes the current checking account balance is $1920.00. There was no checking account activity. The current savings account balance is $7298.73. Activity included $2.27 for interest and membership dues of 2750.00. Total funds: $9218.73. No discussion concerning the financial book. There was discussion about what we will do with the available funds. Walt explained that we could use the monies for t-shirts, printing of flyers and education. No other discussion. Motion to accept by Robert and seconded by Chris. Report accepted.
T-shirt Design. Lisa has been working hard on designing a t-shirt that KY AAMS could see to its members, other air medical crews and our customers. Lisa described the shirt: it will be white with the KY AAMS logo on the left breast. On the back, there will be an outline of the state with a montage of helicopter scene flights with the words “Communications, Commitment and Coordination” overlaying the state. Also each member’s logo will be on the back. Lisa has obtained one price quote and will obtain another for comparison. Don notes he knows of a shop in Pikeville that does laser t-shirt design work. The quality of the shirt pictures would be very good and the prices are extremely reasonable. Lisa and Don will work on finalizing this project. The goal is to have the shirts ready prior to the EMS Conference so members can start wearing them. Also, each service that has a display at the EMS Conference will be asked to sell KY AAMS t-shirts. Beverly will ask the EMS Conference expo coordinator if we can have a table set up (no booth) in the walkway of the vendor area (will try and get this for free). If we do get a table, each service will be asked to have members staff the table during expo hours. T-shirt prices have not been set yet. Lisa will be the keeper of the shirts.
Kentucky EMS Conference. Linda is preparing the LZ lecture for this year’s conference. Bo will be unable to do the legal aspects of air medical transport (which was immediately following Linda’s lecture) so Beverly will work on getting a substitute lecturer. There was much discussion about a two day air medical tract at the 2006 Kentucky EMS Conference. The tracts would be held in conjunction with the regular conference (we may be able to have our registrants attend the morning keynote address and then move over to our tracts). We have enough resources in Kentucky that we should be able to fill all the teaching spots within the state. At the September 27th meeting, please bring your ideas of classes you (or a co-worker) would like to teach. In addition to area air medical crews attending, the present members suggested this conference be advertised nationally.
Advertising Flyer. Jason has been working on an advertising flyer KY AAMS members can distribute to our customers at p.r.’s, conferences, etc. The flyer will have information about KY AAMS and LZ information. Once Jason receives the LZ information from Linda, he will finalize the flyer and take them to the printer. Each service will receive a supply of flyers for distribution. Also, flyers will be distributed at the Kentucky EMS Conference.
Committees. A few folks have expressed an interest in the education and governmental affairs committees; however, no one attended this evening’s committee meetings. It is imperative that both committees form as soon as possible! KY AAMS must have a voice in Frankfort. We also need folks to work on the details of the 2006 air medical tracts at the Kentucky EMS Conference. Please attend the September meetings to help out your Association.
Safety In-Service. The Scout / Search and Rescue helicopter from the Kentucky Army National Guard had been invited to tonight’s meeting but they could not attend due to their current mission status. The Guard will be invited back to the November meeting.
No other business or discussion.
The next meeting will be on September 27, 2005 at the Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo. The conference will be held in Owensboro, KY at the Executive Inn. If you need further conference information, please refer to the EMS Connection website and click on the Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo link. I would suggest you make hotel reservations very soon if you plan on sending the night(s) there. The hotel was sold out last year.
Motion to adjourn by Beverly. So moved by Walt and Jason.
Meeting adjourned at 2010.
Respectively submitted,
Beverly Ford
Interim Secretary
