Meeting Minutes Monday, May 21, 2007 Nelson County EMS Bardstown, Kentucky
Members Present:

I. Call to Order @ 1135 Eastern Time by President Linda Minton
II. Treasurers Report deferred due to the absence of Walter Middleton. Mr. Middleton reports via cell phone that no action has taken place financially since the last meeting. January Minutes approval deferred until minutes are present.
III. Report from Air Medical Task Force- Billy Dukes - Probable Roundtable on June 28th, @ KCTCS Versailles- 11am - Task Force Subcommittees formed including i. Medical, Chairperson, Janie Ward, Air Evac Lifeteam ii. Communication, Chairperson, John Hultgren, CJ Systems Aviation iii. Administration, Chairperson, Karen Moulton, Statcare iv. Aviation, Chairperson, Richard Larson, Statcare
- Air Medical Task Force Committee, July 12, 9am- KCTCS
IV. Conference - Donald Hare checked on T-shirt prices for sale during conference NPC Promotions- Prices were $4.45 S-XL or $6.45 XXL- Discussed New Design
- Discussed new Kentucky AAMS logo design. The possibility of having a new logo designed while designing new t-shirt design was discussed.
All Member Programs should submit photo’s logo design etc. T-shirt designs- (Programs information) & Logo designs should be forwarded to Donald Hare by July 9
Brochures for conference. Medflight Ashland will put together some things for the brochure that will be presented @ July meeting.
KAPA State EMS Conference is September 18-21st
V. Presidential Travel for representation at AMTC National Conference
Motion by Chuck O’Neal for KY AAMS to reimburse Airfare, Conference Registration, Lodging, and Meals for the President of KY AAMS to represent the Kentucky AAMS board at the National AMTC conference. 2nd by Donald Hare
Motion Approved
President Minton will secure lodging and airfare, and report those expenses to KY AAMS Board at the July meeting for check request and/or reimbursement.
VI. Website
Many ideas and items of interest were discussed regarding the KY AAMS website. It was agreed that the KY AAMS website is an important link to the organization and would need to be updated on a regular basis. Items of addition to the KY AAMS website are listed:
- Visits Counter - Map Locations of all member air medical programs and bases of operation - Picture Galleries - Member Program Information - Name, Logo, Program Director, Base Coordinator, Business Telephone, e-mail addresses for persons listed - All information to lminton@cjsystemsaviation.com with cc to coneal@phihelico.com for approval and forward to Webmaster. - Nelson County EMS Highlight - Links to member websites, KBEMS, National AAMS, ASTNA, IAFP, Kentucky EMS Connection - Address and Driving Directions to next meeting location.
The proceeding information will be forwarded to the webmaster following receipt of the necessary program information from each member program.
Member Programs should submit marketing information, eg.. Contact information, locations, pictures, etc… to Linda Minton for forward to webmaster as soon as possible.
VII. Member E-mail Groups
Discussion of the need to identify individual KY AAMS members within member programs. Per bylaws, all staff members of member programs are also KY AAMS members. KY AAMS requests that all member programs forward an e-mail list of employees and E-mail addresses be sent to Linda Minton and Chuck O’Neal for communication regarding the Kentucky AAMS. Please include Kentucky administration, medical crew, pilots, and mechanics. All are members. This information should be forwarded as soon as possible to enhance communication and AAMS participation.
IX. Finalized Meeting Dates for Duration of 2007-05-23
Meeting July 19th, Freeman Lake, Elizabethtown- 11am Eastern Time Meeting September 20th, KAPA 6pm- Central Time Meeting November 19th, Nelson County EMS 11am Eastern Time
X. Research a. Airway Research Project KBEMS was contacted during the meeting. President Minton spoke with Darby McDonald concerning the compilation of data. Darby advised us that she did not know who was responsible for compiling the data, or where that data is located, but Dr. O’Brien would be reviewing the data at a later date.
Further discussion ensued regarding the training curriculum, required number of intubations, and surgical cricothyrotomy listed in the suggested KBEMS protocol for advanced airway control and medication assisted intubation.
Linda Minton will mail a copy of the memo, training curriculum, and protocol to board members for review. We will attempt to form an advisory opinion at the July meeting. Members should forward a mailing address to Linda Minton for mailings.
Linda Minton will e-mail Dr. O’Brien regarding the sharing of airway data thus far in the data collection process.
